BETH O’Brien has a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Birmingham. Work and leisure overlap a lot as reading, writing, and audio-booking are some of her favourite things to do. Having been born visually impaired and with an upper-limb difference, Beth has a long-standing interest in the representation of disability in literature. Beth’s debut middle grade book, Wolf Siren was published by HarperCollins Children’s Books and won the 2026 Carnegie Medal for Writing, the Shadowers’ Choice Award for Writing and UKLA Book Award. Beth has also been shortlisted for The Week Junior’s Breakthrough Children’s Book of the Year. Beth’s second book Feather Vane was published in 2026 and she has a Young Adult novel due to be published in 2027. You can find out more about Beth on her website.
